Justin Rutter

Justin Rutter was living in Ottawa ON, on Murray street when he vanished on October 8, 2009. He had walked across the street to the Petro-Jules Moran Park area where he may have been hanging out with friends. This area is described as a rough neighbourhood. Police say on October 8, 2009, at about 10 p.m. ET, Rutter parted ways with a friend on Côté Street near St. Laurent Boulevard after leaving his home in Ottawa's Lowertown neighbourhood in the afternoon. Rutter, who was 14 at the time, had told the friend he didn't want to go home and wanted to stay out late or all night, police said. It is not believed that Justin ran away as this was out of character for him. His mother noted that he had never run away before; he would go to his grandmothers on occasion but would call to ask if he could stay for a few days. Justin’s family recalls nothing out of the ordinary leading up to his disappearance. In fact, when he left home that day his mother remembers him saying, “I promise I won’t be back late” and kissed her goodbye. It is believed that Justin may have had an altercation with another male the evening of his disappearance but this has yet to be followed up on by police. There have been no searches in the park area or the nearby river that surrounds the park to the family’s knowledge.
