Justin Rutter was born on May 6, 1995. He was living on Murray Street in Ottawa, Ontario on October 8, 2009, when he vanished. He had walked across the street to the Petro-Jules Moran Park area where he may have been hanging out with friends. This area is described as a rough neighbourhood. Police say that at about 10 p.m., Rutter parted ways with a friend on Côté Street near St. Laurent Boulevard after leaving his home in Ottawa's Lowertown neighbourhood in the afternoon.Rutter, who was 14 at the time, had told the friend he didn't want to go home and wanted to stay out late or all night, police said. It is not believed that Justin ran away as this was out of character for him. His mother noted that he had never run away before; he would go to his grandmother’s on occasion but would call to ask if he could stay for a few days. Justin’s family recalls nothing out of the ordinary leading up to his disappearance. In fact, when he left home that day his mother remembers him saying, “I promise I won’t be back late” and kissed her goodbye. It is believed that Justin may have had an altercation with another male on the evening of his disappearance. While family and friends conducted many searches for Justin, the family does not believe that police searched the park area or the nearby river that surrounds the park.SummaryDate of Disappearance: October 8, 2009Location of Disappearance: Ottawa, OntarioAge at Disappearance: 14 years oldDate of Birth: May 6, 1995Height: 5’3″Weight: 110 lbsHair Color: Light BrownEye Color: BrownGender: MaleRace: CaucasianInvestigating Agency: Mark Holsw0rst OttawaDental Information: None to noteNotable Identifiers: 3 moles/freckles on right cheek in the shape of a triangleMedical Information: Nothing specific to note.
