Juanita “Winnie” Migwans
Juanita Migwans is a cherished member of M’Chigeeng First Nation on Manitoulin Island, Ontario. She is known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and the deep love she holds for her family.
Juanita last spoke with her family on September 25, 2024, with her final recorded bank transaction taking place the following day.
Reports of her last known sighting differ slightly. One witness recalled seeing her walking near Oakhill Drive and Highway 551 on October 2, 2024, around 10:30 a.m. However, other witnesses later came forward stating they saw her on October 4, 2024, along Riverside Drive.
A missing persons report was filed on October 7, 2024, sparking an ongoing search led by family, friends, and community members working closely with authorities. Their determination remains unwavering; they continue to hope that someone, somewhere, holds the information that can help bring Juanita home.
Those who know her describe Juanita as compassionate and community-minded, someone who lifts others up and genuinely wanted to make a difference. As a devoted mother, she dreams of continuing her education and building a meaningful career helping those in need. Her absence has left a profound emptiness in the lives of everyone who loves her.
The pain of not knowing weighs heavily on Janita’s father and her family. They believe that someone, perhaps even those close to her, holds answers. There have been whispers and rumors, but what is needed now is truth. Juanita deserves better.
If you have any information, no matter how small, uncertain, or seemingly insignificant, please know it could help bring closure to Juanita’s family. Juanita (Winnie)’s loved ones, especially her little girl, deserve answers.
Every effort brings us one step closer. We will keep searching, keep asking questions, and keep showing up until Juanita (Winnie) is found and brought home.
